Canvassing Invisibility

She was often the only biracial student in her class and spoke only German, except for a few commonly used words in English. To add to her marginality she came out as queer in High School. Navigating her multiple identities has given her the strength to speak up against invisibility and oppression.

I’m a masisi as I like to say. Since I was young I’ve had feelings for boys but it’s something that’s always tough to say to those closest to you.

AFRA-Kenya is a LBQ women’s art organization that is based in Nairobi, and its name is actually an acronym for “Artists For Recognition and Acceptance – Kenya.
